Coconut Milk Thach (Vietnamese Coconut Milk Jelly)

  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons agar-agar powder
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish


  • Combine coconut milk, water, sugar, and agar-agar powder in a saucepan. Stir well to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  • Once it boils, reduce the heat and simmer for a few more minutes until the agar-agar is fully dissolved.
  • Pour the mixture into a mould or a shallow dish. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until set, about 2-3 hours.
  • Once set, cut the jelly into bite-sized cubes.
  • Arrange the cubes neatly on a plate and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
